Capturing and drawing a BOLD BUTTERFLY on EVO Synthetic Paper

Ah, the beauty of a butterfly! This butterfly drawing was created using EVO Synthetic Paper, Copic markers, Isopropyl Alcohol and Microperm Pens. Step by step details on how this piece came to life are below.

Did you know you can draw directly onto EVO Synthetic paper using alcohol markers and then manipulate and work the paint with alcohol afterwards?
That’s how we create this butterfly. We drew directly onto the EVO using Copic markers. The Copic colors for this piece are BV08, BV13, V5, BG34, and G2.
We first colored the butterfly image. Then we spritzed with Isopropyl alcohol. Notice how the ink moves with a little spritz, and then more spritz. We moved the wet ink around slightly with a paint brush until we achieved the painted look we were going for.

We added pale green background by coloring directly onto the paper, leaving a slight white halo around the butterfly. Then we misted the entire piece again with Isopropyl alcohol. Once the ink was blurred and blended to our liking we set aside to dry.

We finally found a fantastic pen to write on EVO paper without any smear. The Microperm pen is perfect for doodling designs on EVO.  We drew directly onto the paper and dried ink with this pen. We think this piece turned out lovely!
