Back-to-School Mini Noteboooks

New teachers, new shoes, and new notebooks, must be time for back to school. In today’s samples, we’ll show you how to use our Wood Sheets to create these two mini notebooks, fun enough to use, even if you are not heading back to school.

123 Mini Notebook:

Supplies: White Birch Wood Sheet, Cherry Wood Tape, Cherry Sticky Wood Sheet, Red Baker’s Twine, Pattern Paper, Number Dies, Sizzix Big Shot Machine, Lined Notebook Paper, Stapler and Staples, 1/4-inch Mini Glue Dots, Label Punch, Sewing Needle and Star and ruler Stickers.

Instructions:

1. Trim White Birch Wood Sheet to 4×6-inches. Score at 3-inches and fold in half. This will be the notebook cover.

2. Trim 5 sheets of notebook lined paper to 3-3/4 x 5-3/4-inches, be sure to orient lines to run 5-3/4-inch length of the pages. Score at center and align mini pages on top of White Birch Wood cover.

3. Place two staples along the center line, each approximately 1/2-inch in from top and bottom of the notebook.

4. Adhere a 3-inch red ‘ruler’ sticker along the front of the mini notebook, approximately 1/2-inch from the bottom. (Note: A 3 x 5/8-inch red piece of pattern paper or red solid card stock can be substituted here).

5. Next, using red baker’s twine, thread the needle. Using the same hole as the bottom staple, pierce the needle and thread through the front of the notebook.

6. Pull through to the back. Pull enough twine through to wrap the notebook and tie a knot on the right side of the front of the notebook.

7. Using a numbers die and your sizzix die cutting machine, take a two pieces of Cherry Sticky  Wood Sheet for the numbers 1 and 3. Then use a piece of patterned paper for the number 2. Adhere to the front of the notebook along the red strip.

8. Using a label punch, punch three labels out of Cherry Wood Tape.

9. Peel parchment backing from Cherry  Wood Tape and adhere left portion of tape to top of the first page inside the notebook.

10. Wrap Cherry  Wood Tape around to back of page and adhere, creating a tab marker.

11. Repeat on fourth and seventh pages of notebook, or on whichever pages you prefer.

12. Add a green star to die-cut ‘3’ with 1/4-inch mini glue dot.

ABC Mini Notebook:

Supplies: Cherry Wood Sheet, White Birch Wood Sheet, White Birch  Wood Tape (or printed label stickers), Lined Notebook paper, Decorative Label Punch, Alphabet die or Alphabet Stickers, Red Star Sticker, ABC Sticker (or Alternate Pattern Paper) and Foam Dimensionals.

1. Trim Cherry Wood Sheet to 4×6-inches. Score at 3-inches and fold in half. This will be the notebook cover.

2. Trim 5 sheets of notebook lined paper to 3-3/4 x 5-3/4-inches, be sure to orient lines to run 5-3/4-inch length of the pages. Score at center and align mini pages on top of White Birch BARC cover.

3. Place two staples along the center line, each approximately 1/2-inch in from top and bottom of the notebook.

4. Adhere a 4-inch abc sticker strip to right front of the mini notebook, approximately 1/2-inch from the edge. (Note: A 4 x 1/2-inch piece of pattern paper or solid card stock can be substituted here).

5. Using decorative label punch, punch out a piece of White Birch Wood. Place foam dimensionals on back and adhere to front of mini notebook in the lower right corner.

6. Using abc and star stickers place ‘a’, ‘b’ and ‘c’ on White Birch decorative label piece, slightly overlapping. Add red star sticker between ‘b’ and ‘c’ on the decorative label. (Note: ‘a’, ‘b’ and ‘c’ pieces can also be created using an alphabet die and solid card stock.)
