Pinata Alcohol Ink and Wood Paper

Boy have we been experimenting with new mediums on our Wood paper lately. So many options and ways to play with Wood paper. Today we’d like to show you a few projects using Jacquard Piñata Alcohol inks.

Alcohol inks are growing in popularity every day.  Piñata is special because of the highly saturated colors.  Incredibly transparent, alcohol inks are very bright and beautiful because of their ability to let light pass through.  Alcohol inks can be used on virtually any surface, and their ability to stick to non-porous surfaces like plastic, glass, metal, and ceramic is something acrylic paints find difficult.  Alcohol inks are also one of the few things that will stick to wax, which is great for candle painting, and work with encaustic.

We used these Jacquard Piñata Alcohol inks to stain our Wood paper. Look at all of the various vibrant colors that can be achieved! Alcohol inks dry very quickly and really soak into the wood paper (porous surface). Add a little blending solution or rubbing alcohol to wet the inks again to continue to blend them into the wood paper.

We love how the wood grain shows through all the various colors! Amazing. We applied the Baja Blue to our Cherry Wood tape to create the trendy striped planter.

Create unique and interesting backgrounds for any craft, art or handmade project. These inks blend and interact with each other in interesting ways, especially on Wood paper. It was such a blast playing with these inks and the uses are endless. We created a small swatch book of the Jacquard Piñata Alcohol inks on our Birch and Cherry wood. Look at how saturated these colors are?!

We continued to experiment and create fun backgrounds. We will stash these away and use them in their entirely or cut up little snippets to use on future projects.

Today we are excited to show you these stunning Wood paper stars using Lumiere to paint accents onto the wood. There are many colors and options of Lumiere. We used the Lumiere Mini Exciter Pack. It includes fabulous Metallic shades perfect for achieving these shiny dots. These stars make a stunning wood home decor that will last for years to come.

Lumiere  is a versatile, top quality, metallic acrylic paint.  Lumiere has fabric binders in it which are stronger and more flexible than those found in artist acrylics.  That makes Lumiere useful on many different surfaces from fabric, wood, paper, and even some plastics.  Lumiere does not crack, so it is perfect for flexible surfaces like leather.   Truly opaque for great coverage, Lumiere is great for coverage.  It comes in 32 metallic and pearlescent colors that are great for any project you want to stand out.  Lumiere self-cures in 72 hrs making it very tough even for outdoors applications.

Supplies for 3D Cherry Wood paper stars: Cherry Wood paper, Lumiere Pearlescent Turquoise and Metallic Bronze, star die, Big Shot die cutting machine, polka dot stencil, sponge dauber and adhesive. Note: Check out You Tube for some tutorials on how to make a 3D star. Remember our Wood paper functions like paper! Show us what you can make.

Instructions for creating 3D Cherry Wood paper stars:

1. Die cut five 3D star points from Cherry Wood paper.

Star point

2. Create a polka dot stencil. We created a simple polka dot stencil using a heavy sheet of card stock and a 1/2″ circle punch.

Lumiere 1

3. Apply Lumiere color of choice to Cherry Wood paper using a sponge dauber. We used Lumiere Pearlescent Turquoise and Metallic Bronze. Test the colors of Lumiere on a scrap piece of Wood paper first so you achieve the color results you like the first time around. We started with Metallic Gold Lumiere and decided we wanted more color contrast against our Cherry Wood paper, Metallic Bronze was the ticket!

4. Fold creases of each star point and then assemble star with a heavy duty adhesive.

5. Repeat steps for multiple stars.

6. Display. These are so fun to make and spruce up any standard decor. Attach them to an outdoor wreath, or hang on a large monogram letter, or simply adhere to the wall for party decor.

A-moose-ing Card with Lawn Fawn + ETC Papers

Lawn Fawn has the MOST adorable products. Every new stamp set we see released, we are dying to use and pair with our wood paper. They have so many cute little animals and critters.

This week our wish came true! Isn’t this Dad + Me stamp set from Lawn Fawn the cutest? With the darling woodland critters, perfect little scenes and excellent puns (we are suckers for a good pun), this set is absolutely perfect.

Even better … the Dad + Me stamp set has companion dies; Dad + Me Lawn Cuts, making cutting out all of the little stamped images a total breeze.

We created this fun general occasion card using this set. We stamped a few of the greetings from  the set in Versamark ink on black card stock and then embossed the stamping with white embossing powder to get that black label maker look. We chopped up the words and arranged them differently to come up with a new ‘a-moose-ing’ greeting.
Look at that gorgeous Birch wood grain!!! Doesn’t it look so great with the little mountains and moose? Our wood paper is thin and super lightweight so you can mail this card with a regular postage stamp.

Perfectly Pretty with Perfect Layers

Welcome back to another product play date with Perfect Paper Crafting. We hope you enjoyed our shares from last week. It is always so much fun to see what others create with our Wood paper and last week was no exception.

ARC July 27 Perfect Layers (5 of 5)

Don’t you just love the look of inlay wood? These 3.5″ x 5″ note cards are going for that inlay look with a little bit of a graphic approach. We used the Perfect Paper Crafting’s paper cutting mat to achieve these perfectly cut angles! This tool made it super quick and easy to achieve such a detailed look with our Wood paper.

Create a gift set … pair these card with our 4Bar Cherry Wood envelopes for a great and memorable gift!

ARC July 27 Perfect Layers 1

ARC July 27 Perfect Layers (2 of 5)

Tip: On the card above we used the Perfect Layers 1/16″ spacing mark to align each cut piece of Cherry wood for exact spacing before adhering. So easy. We love the look of the herringbone inlay wood!!!

ARC July 27 Perfect Layers (3 of 5)

Each stripe of Wood paper on this alternating Birch and Cherry Wood diagonal card was cut using the 5/8″ mark on the Perfect Layers tool. No measuring needed, just line up and cut with a hobby blade.

ARC July 27 Perfect Layers (4 of 5)

Cutting angles can be tricky. The Perfect Paper Crafting’s paper cutting mat has easy printed guides for cutting angles. So smart. Cut away and create an angled masterpiece.

We had a blast playing with the Perfect Paper Crafting products that we just couldn’t stop layering! We decided to play off of the layering theme a little bit more and created a layered Cherry WoodFlower embellishment using this cut file from Silhouette. This flower took a super long time to assemble but the end result is pretty cool. It’s a good thing using the Perfect Layers Mini tool saved us time on the card base!

Look at these crisp, straight layers! Love it.

Coloring on Wood Paper with Chameleon Pens

This week has flown by. We are back and so excited to share more Chameleon Pen and Wood paper projects. We were floored by the amazing projects and talent that was shared last week. We have quickly become Chameleon addicts.

ARC Chameleon Starfish 6

We have two pieces of home decor to share. First is this Starfish print on Birch Wood paper. This is a larger scale coloring project and is super simple to create with only RD4 and YL2 Chameleon Pens, one sheet of Birch Wood paper, starfish art file (from Vintage Fangirl) and an inkjet printer.

ARC Chameleon Starfish 5

1. Print this starfish file onto an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of Birch Wood paper.

2. Color away using RD4 and YL2 Chameleon Pens.

ARC Chameleon Starfish 3

That’s it! So simple and so stunning. The red and yellow tones in these pens blend perfectly for a nice orange color.

Chameleon pens are alcohol based so they blend nicely and work with alcohol blending solutions. This next project is a little playful and fun. Follow these simple steps below:

ARC Chameleon 3 Birch

2. Print the So Many Reasons file onto an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of Birch Wood paper.

Double your Patriotic decor with this 2-sided banner

July 4th is just around the corner. We LOVE decorating for this holiday but our physical space for seasonal decor is limited this year. We wanted to show our red, white & blue pride and needed a small and simple solution. We made this mini double-sided patriotic banner using Birch wood paper and a few simple supplies. The entire banner assembled is 12″ x 5″, perfect for any small space. We decorated the flip side for variety. Happy 4th!

ARC June 27 USA Banner 1

With just a few simple supplies you can create darling decor for any holiday! Create your banner base first and then we suggest you gather supplies in a color scheme and simply play and have fun creating.

Supplies for double-sided USA Banner: 6″ x 12″ Birch Wood paper, red and blue patterned paper, white card stock, red adhesive letters/numbers, star punch, baker’s twine, mini office clips (red, white & blue), NUVO Scarlet Red Pure Sheen Glitter, NUVO Medium Tipped Glue Pen, foam adhesive and scissors.

To create your banner base:

1. Adhere the 6″ x 12″ Birch wood paper to red and blue patterned papers.

2. Cut each banner shape to 2″ x 5″. Flag one end in a banner shape.

3. Repeat as needed for as many banner pieces as you need.

Have fun decorating!

ARC June 27 USA Banner 2

ARC June 27 USA Banner 3

Tip: We wanted to added just a little texture and shimmer to our banner. We hand drew in the stripe shape with a NUVO Medium Tipped Glue Pen and sprinkled with a little NUVO Scarlet Red Pure Sheen Glitter. The glue pen draws easily and this amazing glitter stuck instantly to the Birch wood paper. So simple.
