Valentine Heart Magnetic Display

This project uses Magnetic Rolls and Rustic Birch Wood Sheets. It’s perfect for display on a chalkboard, other magnetic surface or it can be displayed in a 6×6 frame.

Supplies: Magnetic Roll, Rustic Brich Wood Sheet, Heart Pattern, Red Grid Pattern Paper, Red Polka Dot Pattern Paper, 1/2-inch Red Ribbon, Heart Punch (various sizes), Old Book Paper, Letters Die, Die Cutting Machine (Big Shot was used here), Paper Trimmer, Adhesive and Foam Dimensionals.

Valentine Heart Magnetic Display Instructions:

1. Trim a piece of old book paper and magnetic roll to 6×6. Set aside both.

2. Next, download your free copy of the heart pattern we used. Print and cut out, then trace onto a sheet of red grid pattern paper and cut out.

3. Using a sheet of Rustic Birch , cut the letters ‘L’, ‘O’, ”V’, and ‘E’ with the letters die and die cutting machine. Peel backing from letters and adhere to front of red grid pattern paper heart, stacking the ‘L’ and ‘O’ directly over the ‘V’ and ‘E’.

4. Using a mini heart punch, punch one heart from the red polka dot pattern paper. Adhere to the center of the ‘O’ with a foam dimensional.

5. Trim a piece of 1/2-inch red ribbon to approximately 15-inches in length. Wrap around the ribbon around the paper, approximately 1 1/-2 inches from the bottom of the sheet. Fasten with a knot and trim ends at an angle.

6. Adhere red grid pattern paper heart to the center of the 6×6 old book paper piece, over the top of the ribbon.

7. Next, adhere old book paper to paper side of 6×6 magnetic piece.

We have two different Valentine projects to share with you this week, a super simple yet elegant paper and wood paper Valentine card and a wood tape heart tag / ornament.

Supplies for the Birch Heart Doily Card: Birch Wood paper, rose card stock, Silhouette Cameo, heart cut file, foam tape, decorative corner punch, Tim Holtz rose button embellishment and adhesive.

Instructions for the Birch Heart Doily Card:

  1. Cut rose card stock to 6″ x 6″.
  2. Punch all four corners of the 6″ x 6″ card with a decorative corner punch.
  3. Electronically cut a heart doily from Birch wood paper.
  4. Mount Birch heart doily rose card card using foam tape.
  5. Add Tim Holtz rose button embellishment to center of Birch wood heart doily.

Supplies for Cherry Heart tape ornament: Cherry Wood tape, hot glue and silver string.

Instructions for Cherry Heart tape ornament:

  1. Back a 20″ piece of Cherry wood tape with another 20″ piece of Cherry wood tape.
  2. Cut the tape to 8″, 6″ and 4″.
  3. Fold each cut piece in half.
  4. Roll-fold and glue the two ends together to create a heart shape.
  5. Stack and glue each heart from small to large.
  6. Tie silver string through top heart.

 

Card Love with Wood paper

Love is all around! It’s hard to believe Valentine’s day is less than a month away. We created a bunch of LOVE themed projects using this free LOVE cut file and hope these cards inspire you to add a little wood paper to your next project. Pair any of these cards with our new wood envelopes and you’ll be ready to send some love!

Supplies for Love & Roses note card: Cherry Wood paper, Birch Wood paper, Birch ARC Labels, LOVE cut file, Silhouette Cameo, white paper clip, mini rose flowers, rose embellishment and adhesive.

Instructions for Love & Roses note card:

  1. Cut a piece of red card stock to 4.25″ x 5.5″.
  2. Cut Cherry Wood paper to 3″ x 5.25″. Mount to red card stock with foam adhesive. See photo for placement.
  3. Cut using a Silhouette Cameo and the LOVE cut file, cut LOVE into a sheet of Birch Wood paper.
  4. Add LOVE Birch wood piece to card front using foam adhesive.
  5. Add Birch ARC Labels flag to Cherry Wood card front.
  6. Arrange mini rose flowers on card front. Arrange and glue down.
  7. Add a tiny bit of Cherry Wood to white paper clip creating a flag off the top. See example.
  8. Glue paper clip and rose embellishment to stem of roses.

Real Wood Valentine’s Treat Bags

Happy Valentine’s week! We filled these cellophane bags with Valentine candy and sealed with Real Cherry wood bag toppers. Pair these treats with the Wood Valentine Cards we shared last week and you’ll be set for Valentine’s day this year.

Supplies for the Real Wood Treat Valentines: Real Cherry Wood Paper, electronic die cutter, hearts cut file, Valentine rub-on image transfers, pink brads, white card stock, pink card stock, small heart punch, hobby blade, 3″ cellophane bags, candy, scissors and adhesive.

Instructions for the Wood Treat Valentines:

1. Using an electronic die cutter and a heart cut file, cut out heart designs (3 hearts in a row) from Real Cherry Wood Paper (3″ x 2″).

2. Remove liner from Real  Cherry Wood Paper and adhere to 3″ x 2″ pink card stock to create a bag topper.

3. Trim pink card stock with a hobby blade to match heart shape from Real Cherry Wood Paper.

4. Rub-on a valentine image to the back topper front.

5. Punch out 3 small white card stock hearts using a small heart punch.

6. Adhere small white hearts into centers of the Real Cherry Wood Paper hearts.

7. Add pink brads to the center of each white heart.

8. Cut a 1-1/2″ piece of pink card stock to create bag topper back.

9. Fill the cellophane bag with candy and seal bag.

10. Adhere the front bag topper and the back bag topper together, sandwiching the cellophane bag in the center.

Wood You Be Mine – Real Wood Valentines

Handmade Valentines are a great way to show someone you care. We created these tongue and cheek Wood Valentines using Cherry and Rustic Cherry Wood sheets and the “wood you be mine” pun.

Supplies for ‘Wood You Be Mine’ Valentines: Rustic Cherry 6×12 Adhesive SheetsCherry 6×12 Adhesive SheetsCherry Wood Tape, scallop notecards and envelopes, electronic die cutter, heart cut file, Valentine rub-on image transfers, flower resin embellishments, white card stock, pink card stock, small heart punch, pearl embellishment, scissors and adhesive.

Instructions for ‘Wood You Be Mine’  Scallop notecard:

1. Using an electronic die cutter and a heart cut file, cut out a large heart from Rustic Cherry Wood Paper.

2. Remove adhesive liner and adhere the Rustic Cherry Wood Paper heart to the front of the scallop circle card.

3. Using scissors or an electronic die cutter, cut a flag shape from Cherry Wood Paper to layer over heart. Remove liner and adhere to heart shape.

4. Transfer a valentine saying or design onto the Cherry Wood Paper flag with a Valentine image transfer or rub-on.

5. Add a Valentine saying. Typeset the phrase “wood you be mine?” and print onto white card stock. Using scissors cut out saying into a hanging flag shape.

6. Adhere “wood you be mine?” phrase to top left corner of the Rustic Cherry Wood Paper heart.

7. Adhere a resin flower embellishment on top of the “wood you be mine?” flag.

8. Duplicate steps 1-8 to create more valentines using different Wood.

Instructions for envelope:

1. Dress up the envelope flap with Cherry Wood Tape and Valentine image transfers. Adhere a 6” strip of Cherry Wood Tape to the envelope flap. Trim off excess edges with scissors.

2. Rub a valentine image from the valentine image transfers onto the piece of Cherry Wood Tape.

3. Punch out a small pink card stock heart using a small heart punch.

4. Adhere a pearl to center of small pink heart.

5. Adhere heart to envelope flap. (Note: if mailing envelope and card through the postal service remove the heart and pearl from envelope flap.)

‘Love You’ Heart Card

Valentine’s Day is coming up and so we thought we’d share a cute little card that can be shared with any loved one. We’ve also added a bit of our new Rustic Cherry Sheets as one of the heart punch outs.

Supplies: Rustic Cherry Wood Sheet, Cherry Wood Sheet, White Birch Wood Sheet, White Birch Tape, Stardream Jupiter Card Stock (red), Magnetic Roll, Large Heart Punch, Mini Heart Punch, “Love You” Stamp, Red Ink, Mini Pearl Embellishment, White Card Stock, Red Baker’s Twine, Scissors, 1/2-inch Corner Rounder Punch, Foam Dimensionals and Adhesives.

Love You Heart Card Instructions:

1. Cut a piece of white card stock to 8.5×5.5-inches. Score length-wise as 4.25-inches and fold in half. Card will be oriented portrait.

2. Using 1/2-inch corner rounder punch, punch all four corners of the card.

3. With red ink and ‘love you’ stamp, stamp sentiment on a 3-inch piece of White Birch Wood Tape. Trim right edge of tape at an angle, with point going up. Remove paper backing and adhere tape to card front approximately 1/2-inch from the bottom of the card.

4. Using a pair of scissors, along the left fold of the card about 0.625-inches up from the bottom, cut a small slit.

5. Take a 15-inch piece of red baker’s twine and tread it through the small slit. Wrap twine around the width of the card and fasten with a bow at the left side of the card front.

6. Using a large heart punch, punch 1 White Birch heart, 1 Rustic Cherry heart and 1 Cherry Heart.

7. Using foam dimensionals, adhere the Cherry heart to the right of the red twine, slightly overlapping the White Birch Wood tape and twine.

8. Using foam dimensionals, adhere the Rustic Cherry heart about 1/4-inch directly above the Cherry heart.

9. Using adhesive, adhere the White Birch  heart directly above the Rustic Cherry  heart, leaving approximately 1/4-inch between the two.

10. Using Jupiter Stardream card stock, punch 1 mini heart. Adhere to top of White Birch  heart with a foam dimensional. Off-set slightly to the left bottom of the large heart.

11. Add 1 mini pearl to the top of the red mini heart.

Note: the small red hearts shown in the sample photo are stamped in red ink with a heart design and then punched out of our Magnetic Rolls.
