Cherry Wood Bough Wreath

We love to make cherished holiday decor that we can display year after year. This Cherry Wood wreath was a little labor intensive, but creating it was a labor of love. We created this wreath using Cherry Wood paper and the Take a Bough Die from Concord & 9th. We had so many little boughs left over that we created a couple of fun cards. Below are tips on creating this wreath.

Cherry Wood Boughs Wreath
1. Die-cut 100 boughs in Cherry Wood paper in 3 various lengths using a manual die cutter and the Take a Bough dies.
2. Hot glue boughs on cardboard wreath base starting with the largest boughs first.
3. Hot glue another ring of boughs using the medium bough.
4. Hot glue another ring of boughs using the smallest bough.
5. Fill in any holes or thin spots with additional boughs.
6. Hot glue 3 tiny pinecones in the bottom center of wreath.
7. Tie red yarn bow and glue next to pinecones.

Pretty Peacock cards with Heartfelt Creations

The sentiments are these cards are genuine and heartfelt. We hope you are having a wonderful day.

A few weeks ago we shared a beautiful card using our Cherry Wood paper as the card base. Today we have a couple more cards using our Real Wood Papers. These cards use our Birch Wood Papers and Birch Wood Tape.

We used a few more favorite products from Heartfelt Creations to create these two cards. Heartfelt Creations has a couple lovely cling stamp sets featuring peacocks. You can find information about those here.

We used our Real Birch Wood tape to line the bottom of the peacock card, shown below. We added a line of Prills to create a finished divider between the tape and the card stock and love the results.

Our Real Wood Sheets come in three sizes; 12 x 12, 8.5 x 11, and 6 x 12. These papers come in four finishes; Birch, Cherry, Rustic Birch and Rustic Cherry.

Add a little shine – Foil made easy

New Product Alert!

We are super excited to introduce a new unique line of products to our Et Cetera Papers lineup, mini foil sheets. Our foil comes in handy sized sheets for easy handling and quick application. Our introduction to this line includes Silver, Gold and Earth Tone finishes.

Foil Sheets

These Foil sheets transfer without extra tools or heat. Silver and Gold foil packs each come with 10 sheets measuring 4-11/16″ x 3-9/16″. Decorate with all kinds of adhesive. Apply dull side to the adhesive surface and press firmly.

Adding foil is a gorgeous way to make a statement on any project. Did you know you can add foil to your project without a machine or expensive equipment? You can add foil to just about anything with many of the basic adhesives on the market today, the key is the adhesive must be sticky. You can use foam tape, glue dots, rubber cement (once dry) or the best solution … our new 2 in 1 metal nib glue pen!

We created this handmade card with a few simple paper crafting supplies. After the card was assembled we added the little hints of silver foil to the flower centers and background pattern. It was so easy to do. We applied glue to the areas we wanted to foil by drawing directly onto our card with the 2 in 1 metal nib glue pen. Once the glue was dry, we pressed the dull side of the foil directly to the dry sticky adhesive. The foil stuck beautifully and transferred to the card with fantastic results! We love how the silver foil adds that bit of glam and pushes this card to the next level.

Celebrate Mom with a Birch Wood Mother’s Day Card

A handmade, handcrafted card can pull at the heartstrings. We think DIY gifts are the best. Classy DIY gifts for Mom are even better! We created this Mother’s Day card and printed it on Birch wood paper. We gathered and planted a few succulents in a cute pot and hung a matching tag from Birch wood paper. We are so pleased with our gifts and are excited to share them with you. Together, these gifts will help us recognize Mom this year. Happy Mother’s day.

Supplies for card & tags: Birch Wood Paper, card & tag design, Darice Curved Rectangle dies, Big Shot die cut machine, hole punch, ink jet printer, linen thread and plant in pot.

Instructions:

1. Design a Mother’s day card and tag in your favorite design software.

2. Print the card and tag onto a sheet of Birch wood paper using an ink jet printer. You can get one card and six tags from one 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of Birch wood paper.

3. Cut out the card. Our flat card measures 11″ x 4.25″  and 5.5″ x 4.25″ when folded. Tip: when printing your card be aware of the grain direction of the wood paper. Always fold WITH the grain to avoid cracking.

4. Die cut the hang tags using the smallest shape from the Darice Curved Rectangle dies and a Big Shot die cut machine.

5. Punch a hole and tie a piece of linen thread onto the tag. Hang the tag from planted pot or gift.

Mixed Media with Birch Wood

This week I’d like to share the beginnings of a mixed media piece using Birch Wood paper. I love the look of layer upon layer. I started out simple and perhaps I’ll continue to add to this piece as time goes on. For now I am liking the monochromatic look of the Birch wood and various natural textures.

This piece uses Birch Wood paper as the base. The damask pattern comes from this Gothic layering stencil from Tim Holtz and a bit of texture paste from Ranger. I added a few more random bits of texture with a bit of canvas, washi tape and a wood hello embellishment. The detailed butterflies are cut out from Birch Wood adhesive backed paper and this paper cuts like butter using the Concord & 9th Floral and Flutter die. I am dying over these Birch Wood Butterflies. I am certain to use the little beauties on additional projects. So many cool elements and details to look at but I can’t get over the beauty of wood. In my opinion the wood grain from the Birch Wood paper is the star!

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by.

Easter Wishes on Wood paper

Happy Easter!

We created these simple, vintage style greeting cards using Birch Wood paper and pastel card stock. This is a super easy DIY that looks professional. We designed the card front easily with vintage clip art found online and then added an Easter message. You can print your own custom design on Wood paper using most home inkjet printers.

We created a few different color versions of this card on pastel card stock. We even added a touch of color to one of the bunny images using a red Chameleon pen in the lightest shade—coloring directly onto the wood paper.

Supplies for Easter Wishes Bunny cards: 8.5″ x 11″ Birch Wood adhesive backed paper, 8.5″ x 11″ Cherry Wood adhesive backed paper, A2 Birch Wood Envelopes, A2 Cherry Wood Envelopes, 4 sheets of pastel card stock (pink, blue, yellow, purple) and Chameleon primary tone pens (optional). Supplies will create 8 cards.

Instructions for Easter Wishes Bunny Cards:

1. Find your desired black and white clip art image. Download image and open in your favorite design program. Add a custom greeting.

2. Set up 4 images of your card front onto an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet.

3. Print design onto a sheet of adhesive backed Cherry and Birch Wood paper.

4. Cut the printed 8.5″ x 11″ sheet in half, and in half again, to create four card fronts that are 4.25″ x 5.5″. Center and trim each image again to 4″ x 5.25″.

5. Cut pastel card bases to 5.5″ x 8.5″. Score and fold in half.

6. Remove adhesive liner from the printed wood paper. Center the wood paper and adhere to the front of the pastel card stock.

7. Optional: color in a bunny image with a red Chameleon pen following the pen instructions to achieve the lightest shade.

8. Pair each card with a matching Birch or Cherry wood envelope.
