Add a little Real Wood to your Holiday Cards

We are always so inspired when we see projects made from our Real Wood paper. It makes us so happy! Often we pin these creations to our Pinterest boards. You can see many fun projects here. Have you made something from our Real Wood Paper? Be sure to tag us on Instagram (@etc.papers) or Facebook so we can see and share.

This week we are sharing a round of Holiday cards using our new Real Wood Tags. All cards use one similar template for slightly different looks. Season’s Greetings!

Tag It! – Tag those gifts

Tagging those holiday gifts has never been easier. Make a statement with our beautiful Real Wood tags. Or create a design of your own using our Real Wood paper. Real Wood paper is easy to cut, punch and print on. We create the above Merry Christmas Tag design and printed multiples on Real Cherry Wood paper. After printing a full sheet of 12 we punched out each tag with a shape punch, added a red berry and a little hemp twine. These tags will really help us dress up our gifts. Happy wrapping.

Introducing Real Wood Paper Tags!

Introducing Real Wood Paper Tags!

Tags can add a finishing touch to any craft project, wedding decoration or special gift. Put your own flair on it by stamping, painting, embossing, etc. Our tags are 100% real wood that have a natural uncoated finish with adhesive backing. Since these tags are paper, they are perfect for paper craft projects, such as card making or scrapbooking. You can add the look of wood without adding the weight or physical dimension.

Real Wood Paper Tags

Our Real wood tags come in a pack of 10 in Birch wood or Cherry wood finish. Tags measure 3.5×2.

Tag your Treat

Make that treat or gift a little more memorable with a personal touch by adding a handmade tag. We added some autumn color to our tags with stamping, a few embellishments and ribbon. Tie to a caramel apple, and you are ready for gifting. This is a treat most would love to receive.  We’d love to see how you use our tags!

Celebrate Mom with a Birch Wood Mother’s Day Card

A handmade, handcrafted card can pull at the heartstrings. We think DIY gifts are the best. Classy DIY gifts for Mom are even better! We created this Mother’s Day card and printed it on Birch wood paper. We gathered and planted a few succulents in a cute pot and hung a matching tag from Birch wood paper. We are so pleased with our gifts and are excited to share them with you. Together, these gifts will help us recognize Mom this year. Happy Mother’s day.

Supplies for card & tags: Birch Wood Paper, card & tag design, Darice Curved Rectangle dies, Big Shot die cut machine, hole punch, ink jet printer, linen thread and plant in pot.

Instructions:

1. Design a Mother’s day card and tag in your favorite design software.

2. Print the card and tag onto a sheet of Birch wood paper using an ink jet printer. You can get one card and six tags from one 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of Birch wood paper.

3. Cut out the card. Our flat card measures 11″ x 4.25″  and 5.5″ x 4.25″ when folded. Tip: when printing your card be aware of the grain direction of the wood paper. Always fold WITH the grain to avoid cracking.

4. Die cut the hang tags using the smallest shape from the Darice Curved Rectangle dies and a Big Shot die cut machine.

5. Punch a hole and tie a piece of linen thread onto the tag. Hang the tag from planted pot or gift.

Organize using Wood Labels!

The start of a new year always makes me feel like organizing, labeling and basically cleaning things up. As a crafter, my messiest room is always my creative studio. My craft room is a working room and while the room is fairly organized it is not clearly labeled. I wanted to design and print my own labels but desired to use something different than a white Avery® label or a Brother® label maker. Enter Birch Wood mailing labels! These mailing labels work with a traditional Avery template and run through a standard printer so I could easily type out and print my labels. Now that I have the labeling bug I’m off to label my pantry (another messy space)!

Wood labels can be used for so much more than labeling and mailing. Check out these party gift bags we created simply by sealing a cute paper bag with a mailing label and adhering a button to dress it up! Cute and functional.

Supplies for Party Favor bags: Birch Wood mailing labels, printed paper bags, buttons and adhesive.

Instructions for Party Favor bags:

  1. Gather supplies. Determine how many Party Favor bags you need.
  2. Fill bags with party favors or treats.
  3. Fold bag over and close and seal with Birch Wood mailing label.
  4. Adhere pink button to Birch Wood mailing label.

Have a great week and check back next Monday for more creative inspiration.

Real Cherry Wood Home banner

Want the look of wood without the weight of wood? Wood paper is thin, lightweight and mounts perfectly to other lightweight surfaces. We created this Home banner using Cherry Wood paper and adhered it to a piece of recycled cardboard. Attach the banner to a wreath and you’ll have a welcoming home decor piece.

Supplies for the ‘Home Banner’: Cherry Adhesive Wood Sheet, Home decor vinyl, scrap cardboard, pencil, hobby blade and ruler.

Instruction for the ‘Home Banner’:

1. Cut a piece of scrap cardboard to 8.5″ x 11″.

2. Remove the adhesive liner and mount the sheet of Cherry Wood onto the piece of cardboard.

3. Transfer the vinyl home decor piece directly to the Cherry Wood.

4. With a pencil and ruler lightly draw a banner shape around the Cherry wood and Home sentiment. See project photo for suggested placement.

5. With a hobby blade and ruler cut out the banner shape. Tip: thick cardboard can be tricky to cut. Be sure to start with a sharp hobby blade. Cut lightly and slowly with the hobby blade using the ruler as your guide. Repeat the cut deeper and deeper with each pass until you have a clean cut through the cardboard.
