A Fantastic TREAT! – Easy hostess gift idea

A little glitter can go a long way. You can dress up any ordinary object and make it sparkle.

Do you need a quick hostess or gift idea? Check out this cute jar of kisses. We took a basic mini jar added a little dazzle. The silver jar lid was in need of a little sparkle. All you need is silver glitter card stock, a small jar and candy.

We used a circle punch to cut out a circle shape that matched the diameter of the jar lid. We added a little more pizazz with a hand stamped tag and a few tassels. The tag also features a small peek of silver glitter card stock.

This project uses Magnetic Rolls and Rustic Birch Wood Sheets. It’s perfect for display on a chalkboard, other magnetic surface or it can be displayed in a 6×6 frame.

Valentine Heart Magnetic Display Instructions:

1. Trim a piece of old book paper and magnetic roll to 6×6. Set aside both.

2. Next, download your free copy of the heart pattern we used. Print and cut out, then trace onto a sheet of red grid pattern paper and cut out.

3. Using a sheet of Rustic Birch , cut the letters ‘L’, ‘O’, ”V’, and ‘E’ with the letters die and die cutting machine. Peel backing from letters and adhere to front of red grid pattern paper heart, stacking the ‘L’ and ‘O’ directly over the ‘V’ and ‘E’.

4. Using a mini heart punch, punch one heart from the red polka dot pattern paper. Adhere to the center of the ‘O’ with a foam dimensional.

5. Trim a piece of 1/2-inch red ribbon to approximately 15-inches in length. Wrap around the ribbon around the paper, approximately 1 1/-2 inches from the bottom of the sheet. Fasten with a knot and trim ends at an angle.

6. Adhere red grid pattern paper heart to the center of the 6×6 old book paper piece, over the top of the ribbon.

7. Next, adhere old book paper to paper side of 6×6 magnetic piece.

Cherry Wood Tape Plant Riser

We love this trendy look of interesting wood shapes paired with unique looking plants. It’s a modern and simplistic look that dresses up the plant and makes a statement. Inspired to create a similar look we set out to make a wood plant riser from our Cherry Wood tape. We love the result and it’s an affordable DIY that anyone can make!

Wood Tape riser

Try it! All you’ll need is a small glass vase and a roll of our Cherry Wood Tape.

1. Measure the diameter of your vase or glass.

2. Cut two pieces of Cherry wood tape to that diameter.

3. Remove adhesive liner from tape and adhere the two pieces of tape back to back.

4. Roll lined taped into circular shape to create base. Adhere at seam.

5. Place plant vase onto new wood riser.

Pinata Alcohol Ink and Wood Paper

Boy have we been experimenting with new mediums on our Wood paper lately. So many options and ways to play with Wood paper. Today we’d like to show you a few projects using Jacquard Piñata Alcohol inks.

Alcohol inks are growing in popularity every day.  Piñata is special because of the highly saturated colors.  Incredibly transparent, alcohol inks are very bright and beautiful because of their ability to let light pass through.  Alcohol inks can be used on virtually any surface, and their ability to stick to non-porous surfaces like plastic, glass, metal, and ceramic is something acrylic paints find difficult.  Alcohol inks are also one of the few things that will stick to wax, which is great for candle painting, and work with encaustic.

STAINING:

We used these Jacquard Piñata Alcohol inks to stain our Wood paper. Look at all of the various vibrant colors that can be achieved! Alcohol inks dry very quickly and really soak into the wood paper (porous surface). Add a little blending solution or rubbing alcohol to wet the inks again to continue to blend them into the wood paper.

We love how the wood grain shows through all the various colors! Amazing. We applied the Baja Blue to our Cherry Wood tape to create the trendy striped planter.

CREATE INTERESTING BACKGROUNDS:

Create unique and interesting backgrounds for any craft, art or handmade project. These inks blend and interact with each other in interesting ways, especially on Wood paper. It was such a blast playing with these inks and the uses are endless. We created a small swatch book of the Jacquard Piñata Alcohol inks on our Birch and Cherry wood. Look at how saturated these colors are?!

We continued to experiment and create fun backgrounds. We will stash these away and use them in their entirely or cut up little snippets to use on future projects.
