Boy do the Odd Girls have more gorgeous projects to share! When you’ve finished reading this post, you’ll want to hop on over to the Some Odd Girl Blog to see what they’re sharing! Be sure to leave comments on both blogs all week because we have THREE awesome prizes to be won! Sunday will be your last day to comment, so be sure to check out Monday’s posts on the Some Odd Girl blog and the ETC blog, then Tuesday’s posts Some Odd Girl and Our ‘Amazing’ card. Remember, all of the Some Odd Girl products featured throughout the week can be purchased from the SOG shop.
Supplies for the ‘Hello Summer Seagull Taffy’ Box: Birch Wood Sheet, Beach Mae clear stamp set, craft box, white card stock, yellow card stock, bakers twine, yellow rhinestones, patterned paper, blending markers (shades of yellow and gray), black ink pad (alcohol ink recommended), yellow ink pad, taffy, scissors and foam dimensional adhesive.
1. Unfold the craft box. Remove the paper liner and adhere the Birch Wood Sheet to the outside of the box. Fold the Birch Wood box back into shape. Tip: You will need to score the fold lines to break the wood grain in the areas the box folds against the grain. Lightly sand and smooth wood where needed.
Note – you can completely cover your box with Birch Wood or you can use Birch Wood tape to create stripes and cover certain areas like we did on the ‘relax’ box.
2. Cut a piece of patterned paper to 1-1/5″ tall and a wide as you need. (width depends on box top size). This will create a belly band look. Wrap bakers twine around height of belly band and tie a knot. See example for placement. Adhere paper belly band to top of box, wrapping the ends around to the inside of the box flap.
3. Stamp the ‘hello summer’ phrase from the Beach Mae clear stamp set in yellow ink on white card stock. Cut out into a flag shape and adhere to yellow card stock. Trim yellow card stock to match flag shape you created. Add yellow rhinestones. See example for placement.
4. In black ink, stamp the ‘Seagull’ from the Beach Mae clear stamp set onto white card stock. Color with blending markers. Cut out and adhere with foam dimensionals to the ‘Hello Summer Flag’.
5. Fill box with taffy.
